"We
are confident that Thatchers Pear Cider will help quench the on-trade’s
thirst for quality English ciders on draught.”
Thatchers Cider has launched its popular Pear Cider on draught. The independent Somerset cider maker first introduced Pear Cider in 500ml bottles at the beginning of the 2007 season when it gained significant listings in both the on- and off-trade.
Recognising its appeal, Thatchers trialled the pear variant on draught last summer and is now rolling it out to existing Thatchers customers.
“Thatchers Pear Cider has all the attributes that you would expect
from a cider made by Thatchers,” says Martin Thatcher, the company’s
managing director. “It is crafted from home-grown fruit to produce
a drink with real flavour.”
Pears have been used for centuries to make perry, and the unique character
of this fruit brings a fresh, light and distinctive flavour to Thatchers
4.5% Pear Cider.
“From day one we have received extremely positive feedback from customers about Thatchers Pear Cider,” continues Martin. “The pear sector is gaining momentum, and innovation is driving the cider category forward as drinkers are keen to experiment and extend their range of ciders.
“We are confident that Thatchers Pear Cider will help quench the on-trade’s thirst for quality English ciders on draught.”
Thatchers has also launched its draught Ice Gold for the 2008 season, following a successful trial last year. Ice Gold uses new technology to dispense frozen cider into the glass, alleviating the need for ice, and maintaining the premium character of the cider.
