Dabinett, the Single Variety Cider from Thatchers Cider has been Highly Commended in the 2008 Quality Drinks Awards.
The Quality Drinks Awards is one of the UK’s most prestigious events in the drinks industry, organised by the trade publications Independent Retail News, Checkout and Harpers. The 18 categories, including beers, wines, ciders, champagnes and spirits, recognise and reward excellence throughout the drinks industry. An independent panel of top industry experts assess the overall quality of each drink, rating each product’s taste, aroma, appearance, packaging and presentation.
Dabinett was entered into the Cider category and was one of just four shortlisted ciders.
Chairman of Thatchers, John Thatchers, attended the awards ceremony which was held at Vinopolis in London.
“This is the first time that Thatchers had entered the awards, and we were therefore delighted to be Highly Commended in a category with some very strong competition,” he said.
The Dabinett apple has long been recognised as an outstanding English cider apple, producing an excellent quality cider.
