One of Thatchers Cider’s best kept secrets, Old Rascal, is being re-launched. Old Rascal is a fine bittersweet cider, produced from some of Somerset’s best cider apples, Dabinett and Redstreak.
Aged in our oak vats, Old Rascal is made from a traditional Thatchers recipe. Its popularity as a session cider is combined with all the hallmarks of a distinctive Thatchers product full of flavour and a West Country apple bite.
Packaged in Thatchers lightweight 500ml bottle, Old Rascal has been given a new personality which will broaden the appeal of the brand. Thatchers introduced its new, fridge friendly 500ml glass bottle earlier this year, offering a 21% reduction in weight.
“Old Rascal has always appealed to older, more traditional drinkers. With cider now attracting a much wider audience, we feel it’s time to introduce the Old Rascal to them too!” says Martin Thatcher.
New packaging and point of sale for Old Rascal tells the story of the “Old Rascal”, a wily old fox who creeps into the cider store to top up on his favourite tipple. Old Rascal has an abv of 4.5%, and the 500ml bottle will retail at £1.79. Old Rascal is also available in a 2 litre PET, and both the 500ml and 2 litre sizes will be available in six-packs.
